【Nujabesとは？ -Who is Nujabes?-】

1974年 東京都出身のDJ、トラックメイカー、音楽プロデューサー。’95年にわずか21歳にして渋谷にレコード･ショップGuinness RecordsをOPENすると、アーティストとしての活動に加え、主宰レーベルHydeout Productionsやtribeなど、それまでのHIPHOPやレコード･ショップのイメージを覆す洗練されたセンスが高く評価される。’04年にはパリコレクションにて「コムデギャルソン」の音楽ディレクターを務めると共に、海外における日本のアニメ人気を定着させ、近年のLo-Fi HIPHOPのルーツとなった「サムライチャンプルー」の音楽をも手掛け、国内外でそのサウンドと知名度を不動のものとする。’05年には代表作「modal soul」をリリースし、全てが軌道に乗っていた2010年2月26日、交通事故により逝去。享年36歳であった。

 

DJ, track maker, and music producer born in Tokyo in 1974.
In 1995, at the age of just 21, he opened the record shop Guinness Records in Shibuya, and in addition to his work as an artist, he was highly praised for his sophisticated taste, which overturned the image of hip-hop and record shops up to that point, through his labels Hydeout Productions and tribe.In 2004, he served as the music director for Comme des Garçons at the Paris Collection, and helped solidify the popularity of Japanese anime overseas. He also produced the music for Samurai Champloo, which became the roots of modern Lo-Fi Hip Hop, solidifying his sound and recognition both at home and abroad. In 2005, he released his masterpiece, Modal Soul, and just as everything was going well, he passed away in a traffic accident on February 26, 2010. He was 36 years old.
